Over the last four years we have created and run many bespoke training courses for people of all ages and genders in Bristol and around the UK, including a number of workshops with young people.
We know periods aren't always a topic we want to talk about - instead, they are often hidden away, ignored or laughed at. Because of this, pur educational workshops aim to address the topic of menstruation in a fun, no-nonsense, engaging way that builds confidence and gets young people thinking from a different perspective.
The aims of our workshops were to:
● Empower young people to understand how periods socially impact themselves and others
● Develop self-esteem as well as problem solving, team working and communication skills whilst focusing on the issues surrounding periods
● Help young people understand who they can turn to for support in managing their menstrual health
In the educational workshops, we discussed barriers to healthy, dignified menstruation for young people and provided information on reusable sanitary products, an option which can help save thousands of pounds over a lifetime.
